push off , bearing toward a flame
on the far shore , past sleep-fathoming fishermen
inside a pale shell of mist ; and voices
nearing in criss-crossing boats , the traveler
always asks , " Which way to Chen Yang ? "
A wandering traveler 0 anxious to make the crossing Takes the ferry over the River Hsiang by night. In the dew-laden air I scent the fragrant pollinia And by their songs know the gatherers of lotus blossoms. The boatmen steer for the fires upon the shore; Fishermen anchor 0 for the night deep in the mist. From time to time this wayfarer inquires of them, "Which way to get to Ts'en-yang?" |
