Fall winds wail in mulberry branches;
grasses whiten, the fox and rabbit frisk.
In Han-tan he's been drinking- before the wine wears off,
over broad plains north of the castle he flies his black falcon,
in the empty camp site shoots two pouncing tigers dead,
then turns home by crescent moon, bowcase slung at his belt.

邯鄲飲（かんたんの）み來（きた）って酒未（さけいま）だ消（せう）せず。
城北（じゃうほく）原平（げんたひら）かにして早鷗（そうてう）を掣（せい）す。
射殺（しゃさつ）す 空營（くうえい）の兩騰虎（りゃうとうこ）。
身（み）を廻（めぐ）らして卻月（きゃくげつ） 弓鞘（きゅうせう）を佩（お）ぶ。
秋風 桑條を鳴らし、 草白くして狐兎驕る。 邯鄲飲み來って酒未だ消せず。 城北原平かにして早鷗を掣す。 射殺す 空營の兩騰虎。 身を廻らして卻月 弓鞘を佩ぶ。 秋風が桑の枝をざわさわ吹き鳴らして通る。草は枯れかかって狐や兎がときを得顔に走りまわっている。邯鄲の酒場で飲んだ置がまだすっかりさめきらない。だが城北 の原っぱの平らで廣いところで、たちまも黒い羽の熊鷹を手どりにした。 ところが、とんでもない相手があらわれ出た。古い壘の跡にはいると二匹の猛虎が跳りあがって向かってきた。弓をひきしぼって一發また一發、二匹とも射殺してしま った。 さてそれから身をめぐらすと、はや半月狀の弓は袋につつまれて腰にさげられ、御本人はすっくとばかり姿勢を正した。 |
