The well , ruined in wartime , is moss - grown ;
The palace , wherein it stands , was a great dome .
The brazen vase was busy then to drink
And draw the pulley groaning at the brink .
There would have been a fair court maid by its side ,
Glassed herself in the cold depth and sighed .
The dragon is now half jagged on the mould ;
Still the antique vase costs something in gold .
