The mountain priest
Sits beside a chess board,
As pure shadows from bamboos
Fall across it.
Nothing alive that moves can be seen
Save for the shadows of the bamboos—
Yet from time to time
Comes a sound of chessmen moving.
Mountain priest sits opposite the chess board, pure the shadows of the bamboo on the board. Reflection of the bamboos, no one to be seen but time to time sound of chess pieces. |
