Dispels melancholy;
Grass and rushes
Resolve sorrow.

Compare with my meeting Tu
Or seeing Liu?
To be old and withered
Is better than dying in youth.
I relish idle laughter
At men industrious and worried.
Ask for our classmates–
How many have survived to be white-haired?
Tu K'ang scatters melancholy, rush and grass resolve sorrow. But, may I ask, how can that grass meeting Tu compare with my seeing Liu? Old withered better than young dead, idly enjoying laughs at busy worried. Inquire about our classmates: how many of them got to be white-haired? |
