Today, seeing Sung Mountain and Lo River,
I turn back and sigh at the world.
Splendor and glory flow swiftly as the river,
Grief and anxiety are more massive than the mountain;
Only on encountering pain does one understand joy
Or after being busily employed first love leisure.
Never as yet have I heard of a bird
That after flying out of its cage
Willingly returns.
This day I see Sung Mountain and Lo River, turn back and sigh at the world. Glory and splendor swift like a river, worry and grief greater than a mountain. Seeing pain then you understand joy, being busy then first you love leisure. Never yet have I heard of the bird that flies from its cage, then willingly returns. |
