Morning sunbeams look with pity
On my sunlit bed;
By night I enjoy
A fiery stove.
In the warm bed
I sleep till noon.
Beside a hot fire
I sit till deep into the night.
Sparrows flock around my doors.
I am too lazy to go out
Or to comb my hairs
White as a crane.
Who will ever visit me—
Except Liu and Wu?
Morn takes pity on that sunlit bed, nights I love a fiery stove. Bed warm, I sleep till sun high, fire warm, I sit till deep night. Sparrows flock around my door, I'm too lazy to go out; my crane-white hairs I'm too indolent to bind. Apart from Liu and Wu who will even call? |
