Yes, the wine is ready but no guest comes,
So I improvise my drinking-song alone.
The luminaries Huang and Ch'i
Lived in the world of men.
Those indolent Immortals Sung and Ch'iao
Flourished on earth,
When awake, their minds blurred and indifferent,
Then back again to sheer tipsiness!
From morning to night,
How many years remain,
All of us locked and imprisoned within our world?
Yes the wine is ready but no guest comes, and thus I make my drinking song alone. Old Luminaries Huang and Ch'i in the world of man, idle Immortals Sung and Ch'iao on earth. Blurred indifferent awake, then back to tipsy; idle free night and morn. How many years remain? Locked within this midst. |
