Throughout the ten years we've been apart
How often has the cicadas' crying moved me!
Since we are now both in Loyang City
We hear them together.
Their murmuring makes us even more aware
Of quiet and purity in the forest.
A cool, delicate breeze suddenly arising
Enduces autumn thoughts before autumn enters.
I stand beside the remnants of hibiscus blooms;
I stroll beneath the locust tree's shade.
Although I feel no pangs of separation
I am still moved by remembrance of sadness past.
How glad I am that I'm not deaf
So that year after year
I hear cicadas singing!
Ten years we've been parted, oft I've been moved by the cicada's cry. This year we hear them together for we're both in Loyang City. Hearing their noise makes you aware of the forest quiet the pureness scene. A cool breeze sudden delicate blows, autumn thoughts arise before autumn comes. I stand beside the remnant hibiscus blossoms, stroll beneath the old locust tree's shade. Though I've no pain of separation still I'm moved by those old age feelings. Glad I'm not yet deaf, that year on year I hear the cicada's song. |
