Not only are my clothes neither meagre nor thin,
My carriage-horses are by no means emaciated or weak.
A day in luxuriant spring
Cannot be ill spent with a carefree stroll
Beside the flowing waters at Long Life Palace
Or in the green mountains at Cliff Rock County.
Willows shade the official road;
Flowers are thick by the temporary palace.
I have often heard the folk-saying:
"The rich spend their time in pleasure."
Now, though I'm not a wealthy man,
Neither am I harassed or miserable.
My family servants are accomplished in music.
As I ride, I carry with me my drinking cup.
Frequently I confront the spring breeze,
At leisure before it, cup in hand.
Not only are my clothes not meager-thin but neither are my carriage horses emaciated-weak. A day of spring luxuriant spent not badly in idle stroll— flowing waters at Long Life Palace, green mountains at Cliff Rock County. Willows shade the official road, flowers thick about temporary palace. This folk saying often have I heard: The monied ones spend their time in pleasure. Now though I'm not a man of wealth neither am I harassed-forlorn. My family servants are musically adept and I ride along taking with me the cup to be poured. At times I face the spring breeze to rest before it, cup in hand. |
