As time passes I find I have
No hair on top of my head,
Plenty about the ears.
From day to day
My body and face age.

My official rank climbs higher.
Though my salary has increased,
I have become snared by worries.
Now at last I've a sinecure in Loyang
With calm and leisure.
As for diet,
I avoid wild spinach and bean leaves.
As for lodging,
I am by no means in the wilderness.
Who says my house is poor?
I drink green wine from silver cups.
Don't say I'm not an eminent person.
A golden seal illumines my purple robe.
I know when to stop.
I am not greedy for more
But quietly ask my conscience,
What do I merit from the nation?
