英譯: |
Night comes on.
It is fine weather.
I shall stroll before my gates—
What is this I see?
A dog and a hawk—
After eating its fill,
The hawk braves the high wind.
After fully warming himself,
The dog sleeps, facing the sun.
With hunger comforted
One serenely adheres to earth;
On extended wing the other
Soars high in heaven;
Only the hawk is beyond fear
Of snare or arrow.
The dog on the ground
Is neither roped nor confined.
Seeing other beings
Following their natures
Gives pleasure to my heart.
I chant the wisdom of transcendent bliss
Written in words
That will not be forgotten.
Night comes on, the weather's good and I stroll before my gates. What is there before my gates? I chance to see a dog and a hawk. Having eaten its full, the hawk braves the wind; being warm, the dog faces the sun in sleep. Stomach comforted, the one calmly adheres to the earth; fixed its wings, the other rubs high against the heavens. The hawk above has no worry of net or arrow, the dog below is neither roped nor locked away. Seeing other beings pursue their natures gives me heartfelt pleasure— heartfelt pleasure in what? I chant the doctrine of transcendent bliss, the doctrine bequeathed to us, the words one can never forget. |
