Though lazy,
I am still responsive;
Though old,
My heart is still strong.
Yesterday I rejoiced in a revel among the mountains;
This morning in a festival of wine and flowers.
Azaleas on the mountain
Were beautiful as fire;
Petals of jade-like blossoms
Shimmered as scattered hail.
In the twinkling of a moment
Glory and decline
Shift from one to the other.
Heat and cold
Follow each other in sequence.
I have not yet discarded
My cotton bedding,
While I am already using
My grass-reed door,
Enjoying men and things,
Able to meet them face to face
As year follows year.
Though I'm lazy there's still interest, though I'm old my heart's still healthy. Yesterday a mountain river frolic, this morn a wine and flower fete. Mountain azaleas beautiful as fire, jade petal blossoms shimmering as scattered hail. Glory and downfall pursue one another in the shift of a moment, heat and cool follow with the times. I haven't yet put away my cotton bedding when I'm already using a grass reed door. Delighting in men and things, able to see them year after year. |
