Cock-crow on the imperial road, dawn strikes cold.
Orioles flute in the royal city but the colours of spring are passing.
At the morning bell from Golden Gate myriad doors spring wide;
Fabulous weapons on the jade stairs guard a thousand officials.
Flowers reach our sword pendants, stars begin to set;
Dew is not dry on the willows as they brush our banners.
All alone by Pheonix lake lake stands the poet---
Composing to the air 'Spring sunlight', hard for others to cap!
