This monastery
north of the city
was a palace once
belonging to Wei Hsiao
its old stone gate
is covered with moss
the painted hall is now
empty and run-down
a bright moon shines
on dew-heavy leaves
patchy clouds chase the wind
above the River Wei
clear and heartless
it flows east and leaves me sad.
