Dew turns to jade-white ice
that scars and wilts the maple trees
the Wu Mountains and the Wu Gorges
grow bleak in autumn wind
the river rises, waves
reaching toward the sky
as clouds come lower now
dark on the darkling earth
seeing the open chrysanthemums
brings memories and tears
my hope of going home
is a lone boat, tied up
people are busy sewing and patching
their cold weather clothing
while the sun sets, all through Baidi city
laundry mallets whack.
