Last year, amid flowers we parted;
Today, flowers are blooming ─
another year's gone since we last met.
The vicissitudes of life are unforeseeable;
Sleeping alone, with gloomy
spring-sorrows I'm beset.
Prone to illness,
retiring to the countryside is on my mind;
The plight of refugees in my district
shames me for the pay I get.
Your intended visit is heard:
Over the west chamber,
many a fall moon has risen and set!
