This mighty River rushes out beyond earth and heaven
Passing the three Hsiang cities in the Kingdom of Ch'u,
With nine tributaries flowing through the
gateway of Ching.
Sometimes colours play upon the mountain, sometimes not...
Towns and cities seem to float above the
junction of the waters;
Great waves leap to the far skies.
Hey! You over there in Hsiang-yang! Set aside some
fine day
For a venerable old man of the mountains to get
happily drunk!
