Sudden rain blots out day, thunders down.
I search for empty blue sky, but it's gone:
nothing but cloud-swells clear to the sea
and lightning igniting mountain darkness.
I fear floodwater at every stream-crossing,
and fog hiding clifftops. Then night comes:
clear skies, river moon. Here in the midst
of all this, I listen to a boatman's oar-song.
