I close my thatched door on my aloneness.
How very few call at my humble dwelling!
The blue arch of heaven pales behind long
rays of sunset,
And cranes nest in every scented pine...
Now tender bamboo shoots are coated with fresh powder;
And around the lotus lie fallen crimson petals.
At the ferry landing, lights spring up
$(And peasants,)$ laden with water-chestnuts, gather from
hither and yon.
