The well, ruined in wartime, is moss-grown;
The palace wherein it stands, was a great dome.
The brazen vase was busy then to drink,
Drawing the pulley groaning at the brink.
There would have been a fair court maid by its side,
Glassed herself in the cold depth and sighed.
The dragon is now half jagged on the mould;
Still the antique vase costs something in gold.
