The sky north of King Chu's Palace the evening regains,
While west of White Emperor City the trail of rain remains.
The sunglow on the river plays the cliff's stone visage;
The clouds homing to the trees mist the mountain village.
With decrepit, ill lungs, I pillow my head high in my bed poor;
On the troublous frontier I only close early my door.
I can't stay, since the jackals and tigers disturb the peace,
The southland should have conjured me back to live at ease!
