Tracing up the Laving-Blooms Stream to the west end,
With the quiet trees and pools, the lord finds me a land.
Leaving the city, I leave the secular affairs,
And yet the clear waters would purge my heart from cares.
Up and down, a swarm of dragonflies flutter swift.
Stand and fall, a pair of purple mandarine-ducks drift.
If I e'er want to go to Shanyin while the whims last,
A junk can take me thousands of miles eastwards fast.
By the Flower-Washing River on the western bank master of my house, I've chosen this quiet woods and riverbank outside the city, well away from business, dust, entanglements here where clear water rinses away a traveler's sadness too many dragonflies to count hover and play on the water two wood ducks swim straight toward me then dive and disappear I could go a thousand miles east riding on my high spirits skimming along in the shade of mountains aboard a simple skiff! |
