Zhizhang seems to toss with a boat while he rides on a horse;
With dazzling eyes to the bottom of a cold well he falls.
Ruyang ne'er goes to court without three bowls having made him gay;
The wine cart brings water to his mouth when they meet half-way;
As Wine Springs didn't become his fief he regrets e'eryday.
Premier Li gives a banquet costing him oceans of coins;
Like a whale soaking the seas the flood of wine keeps going;
Avoiding the noblemen the inebriate party he joins.
Zongzhi, the handsome young master, looks up into the sky
With the white of his eye, while raising a brimful goblet high;
Like a precious tree swaying in the wind, there he stands by.
Su Jin is a vegetarian as he believes in Buddha;
But whenever drunk he forgets sitting in dharma.
Li Po makes a hundred poems out of a big bowl of wine,
In Chang-an he's lost in slumber where there's a wineshop sign.
E'en when the Emperor asks him to boating he would decline,
And call himself that "I am a real wine bibber divine"!
