Too late to be transplanted are the chrysanthemums,
That even now it's Double Ninth Day green are their stamens.
Tomorrow, when one sobers up in a desolate scene,
What is the good for you then to bloom in full, I ween?
There are many who live in the field or by the fence;
Being plucked from the dust, they smile in the main hall hence.
Growing not in place, you should live in rime and wind,
I pity you vainly have stems thick and leaves wide!
