Grazing horses by the ancient road,
By the road are many ancient tombs.
The desolation is deathly sad,
Crickets sing in the aspen trees.
I turn my head and look toward the capital—
A piled up growth of dust and mist.
Wealth and rank—how can they last?
When I return I'll stick to simplicity and truth.
