Like clouds in twilight yellowing,
The crows flock to their nest,
On wall and tree-top chattering
Fly home to evening rest.
The maid at Ch'in Ch'uan labouring,
The silk grows at the loom,
Behind the blue gauze curtain
She murmurs songs—for whom?
She stops and broods—remembering
A lover far away;
At night she lies, unchecking
Her lonely tears till day.
