Books, cartloads of them in my house
Sunflower seeds cooked to regale the honoured guests
Come to my poor house on their bamboo viewing
Birds sitting before the spring is green
Orioles singing on after the flowers have fallen－
I am sad at this final whitening of my hair
And doubly grudge the season's glory.
