The sky has cleaned and there is the vast plain
And so far as the eye can see no dust in the air
There is the outer gate facing the ford
And the village trees going down to the mouth of the stream
The white water shining beyong the fields
The blue peaks jutting behind the hills
This is no time for leisure on the land—
All hands at work in the fields to the south.
Skies open blue again across vast plains, no dust or haze to the very edge of sight. City gates look out above a river-crossing. Village trees trail a creek up to its source, and silver water shimmers beyond fields, emerald peaks towering behind ridgelines. It's the farming season. No idleness now: families pour out to work southern fields. |
