With eyes gradually becoming dim,
Ears gradually growing deaf,
A whole head of frost and snow,
Half my body wind,
I've attempted to waft my heart
Beyond the floating clouds,
Yet my form still lodges
In its earthly inn.
I've renounced wine and poetry,
Closed the guest room,
Cast out song and lute,
Deserted the whore's chamber,
All worldly affinities and mundane thoughts utterly ended,
There's at least one purified old man in the world of men.
Eyes gradually dimming, ears gradually deaf. A whole head of frost and snow, half my body wind. I've taken my heart beyond the floating clouds but still my shape lodges in the earthly inn. I've given up wine and poetry, the guest room is closed— scattered the music and song, empty the whore's room. Worldly affinities, mundane thoughts finally ended; there's one purified old in the world of men.
