Po and Liu,
a lifetime together as inseparable friends.
We shared the poor and the sick,
the idleness of retirement days.
One dead,
one alive
on the brink of old age.
Heroes of the wine-cup
but you and I,
and for literary refinement
in you I know my master.
The fine and eminent may perish
but their spirits live—
Frolic under the earth there
with Wei-chih.
