Ah, what a light, fast, white horse
Befitting its golden halter,
Neck a frame of silver blossoms,
Tail a trail of white silk thread,
Bright, fresh skin color, lovely to see;
Spirited, well-trained, as every horseman knows!
The steed comes to my humble place
Freely, not in exchange for a concubine.
I have my groom lead it before me for mounting.
I neither spur it on nor frighten it;
But advance while it paces slowly.
Oh, the pleasure of riding it
On a tipsy excursion into the mountains!
Light quick white horse befitting the golden halter, neck a frame of silver blossoms, tail a trail of white thread. Bright fresh skin color lovely to see, spirited well-trained this every rider knows. Not exchanged for a concubine, the steed has come to my shameful place; I have my servant lead it before me to be mounted. I neither spur it on nor frighten it, slow the strides— oh so fine to take it on tipsy mountain rides.
