In Spring a noble feast is made upon the Spirit Lake,
Where lo! a regal tent is set upon the waters wide.
The passing vessel lightly touched by where the stone whale lies,
And then returned by brushing past the heavenly Herdboy's side.
The ming leaves with the cycled moon have fallen one by one;
And willows in belated Spring to struggle forth have tried.
The sun's reflection here is seen as in the sea to bathe,
And burnt to ashes sink as dust beneath the golden tide.
'Twas here that Wu Wang drank; and here the heart of Chou rejoiced.
Our chants recall the stream of song where Han Wu's echoes glide.
No matter though the moonlight beams in darkness die away,
For now the pearls that shine at night the glimmer-ing shade divide.
