This arbour so lofty no birds can attain;
And here with the clouds we in company meet.
There miniature houses small tree clumps contain.
All round the horizon hills crouch at our feet.
A rainbow hangs waning to north of Shen Chou,
And west of the Pass pours impetuous rain.
A wine cup accords with this green slope, I trow,
As melon fields colour the rills to the plain.
Oh, why let the state of a small office daunt?
With friendship more precious we walk hand in hand.
Old rustic surroundings my memory haunt,
As I dream of return to my heart-hidden land.
