Around the arbour eve is growing late, and we about to leave.
But all its fiery spirit from the wine these chilly waves bereave.
My evening reverie this border Pass with gloomy shadow kills.
The cactus palms point out the chariot's way to home across the hills.
Yon lotus leaves the fisher's skiff conceal. And in the passer's hair
The creepers' blossoms twine their clinging hands, as if to hold him there.
Those dying clouds are lit with summer's glare. And see! the recent rain
Brings up the haze of Autumn. Like despair sad Autumn comes again!
Here am I lost; and know not where to turn; no refuge anywhere.
This parting fills my breast with doubled pain, as flashes on my heart
How by the door of my far home amain such brawling streams depart.
