Behold the temple to Great Yü betwixt two hollow hills!
The sun slopes down behind it, and the breath of Autumn chills.
Yet orange trees and pomeloes droop round the lonely halls.
And dragons, gods of waters, writhe about the an-cient walls.
And all about each vacant room white misty cloudlets curl;
As far along the silver sand the river waters purl.
By boat, by cart, by sledge, by pile, he labored long ago.
To pierce these distant hills and guide the triple rivers' flow.
