Weeds grow over the public well.
I loaf in my old clothes. Willow
Branches away. Flowering trees
Perfume the air. The sun sets
Behind a flock of cormorants,
Drying their black wings along the pier.
The limpid river winding by my cottage, The wattled gate opens to the old passage. The trails to market town are deep grass-grown, Living remote, I mind not my shabby gown. The willows swing their strings, so frail and fair; The loquats cluster on trees, scenting the air. The sun is westering with golden rings, On the kiddle the cormorants bask their wings. |
