空外一鷙鳥, 河間雙白鷗。 飄颻搏擊便, 容易往來遊。 草露亦多溼, 蛛絲仍未收。 天機近人事, 獨立萬端憂。
英譯: A hawk hovers in air. Two white gulls float on the stream. Soaring with the wind, it is easy To drop and seize Birds who foolishly drift with the current. Where the dew sparkles in the grass, The spider's web waits for its prey. The processes of nature resemble the business of men. I stand alone with ten thousand sorrows.
A vulture hovers about the blue vault of heaven; Two white gulls float on the rill—a peaceful haven. The talons may glide round or swoop down as they please, While the innocent pair swim to and fro with ease. The grass moistened with dews is tangling wet; The spider waiting for preys yet sits in its net. The daedal Nature is something like human affair; Standing alone, a lot of cares in my heart I bear.
Empty skies. And beyond, one hawk. Between river banks, two white gulls Drift and flutter. Fit for an easy kill, To and fro, they follow contentment. Dew shrouds grasses. Spiderwebs are still Not gathered in. The purpose driving Heaven become human now, I stand where Uncounted sorrows begin beginning alone.
