Alone I sat beneath the bamboos' shade,
And hummed an air, whilst on the lute I played,
Unseen by all within the thicket deep,
Except the shining moon that came to peep.
Sitting alone in recluse bamboo dark I play a ch'in, settle into breath chants. In these forest depths no one knows this moon come bathing me in light. Sitting in mystic bamboo grove, back unseen 0 $(Press stops of)$ long whistle Deep forest unpierced by man Moon and I face each other. Sitting alone, hid in bamboo Plucking the lute and gravely whistling. People wouldn't know that deep woods Can be this bright in the moon. |

奥深い竹林の中に、わたしはひとり静かに坐っている。琴を弾き、また、声を長く引いて歌う。深い竹林の趣は誰も知らぬが、明月が来て照らしてくれる。
獨（ひと）り坐（ざ）す 幽篁（いうくわう）の裏（うち） 琴（こと）を弾（だん）じて 復（ま）た長嘯（ちゃうせう） 深林（しんりん） 人（ひと）知（し）らず 明月（めいげつ） 來（き）たりて相（あ）ひ照（て）らす 獨り坐す 幽篁の裏 琴を弾じて 復た長嘯 深林 人知らず 明月 來たりて相ひ照らす ただ独りひっそりとした竹林のなかに坐って、琴をひいたり、声を長く引いて歌をうたったりする。 この深い林のなかのこんな楽しみを人は知らないだろうが、月だけは知っていらし出してくれるのだ。 獨（ひと）り坐（ざ）す 幽篁（ゆうこう）の裏（うち）。 琴（きん）を彈（だん）じ 復（ま）た長嘯（ちょうしょう）す。 深林（しんりん） 人（ひと）知（し）らず、 明月（めいげつ）來（き）たって相照（あいて）らす。 獨り坐す 幽篁の裏。 琴を彈じ 復た長嘯す。 深林 人知らず、 明月來たって相照らす。 |
