英譯: OUT of the long night floats the music of the clear lute The western wind stirs the blue tendrils of the creepers; The last remaining fireflies have come to rest in the green dews, The first wild goose brushes the Milky Way; The tall trees are massed in the dawn, The distance stands out clearer than usual. When the first leaf falls in the Huai-nan district Then you know there will be waves on the Tung-ting lake.
There's a harp in the midnight playing clear, While the west wind rustles a green vine; There's a low cloud touching the jade-white dew And an early wildgoose in the River of Stars.... Night in the tall trees clings to dawn; Light makes folds in the distant hills; And here on the Huai, by one falling leaf, I can feel a storm on Lake Tung-t'ing.

The psaltery's note floats clearly through the night. And emerald vines to western winds are born. Yon fading clouds brood over dewdrops bright. Wild geese brush by the Milky Way at dawn. In these tall trees but dimly grows the morn. O'er distant hills far quicker springs the light. When one leaf falls at Kiangsu, forlorn Like Tung-ting's waves upswells the heart's despite.

The clear sound of zither hovers at night, Among green vines rises the western breeze. The last fireflies rest on the dew jade-white, The Milky Way is brushed by early wild-geese. At dawn tall trees still loom thick and high; In the sunshine many distant hills awake. One leaf having fallen south of River Huai – I feel autumn in the waves of Dongting Lake.
