A STRANGER comes from the east
On his clothes the rains of Pa-ling.
When we ask him wherefore he comes
He says, to buy axe to cut $((firewood))$ from the hill.
Secretly, shyly the buds are opening,
Hither and thither the young swallows glide,
It seems only the other day that we parted
Already it is spring again;
But our beards are whiter since our last meeting.
