COOL are the bamboo mats and silver white the bed, but dreams will not come;
The green skies are like waters and the evening clouds steal lightly by;
A wild goose calls in the distance as it passes over the Hsiao and Hsiang,
The twelve towers are bathed in the light of a bright moon.
A cool-matted silvery bed; but no dreams.... An evening sky as green as water, shadowed with tender clouds; But far off over the southern rivers the calling of a wildgoose, And here a twelve-story building, lonely under the moon. Oh! Dreams, you shun the chilly mat of my silver bed; I see the watery green sky paved with clouds light. Beyond the southern rivers the calls of wild geese spread; Atop the twelve-storey tower the moon shines bright. |
