The peony and her beauty which overthrew a kingdom were both dear to my heart.
When the Imperial eyes gazed on her then my pleasure was bound to her smile.
The spring wind brings me a limitless sorrow
When I think where to the north of the fragrant Aloes pavilion she leant upon the balustrade.
The most renowned of blossoms, most divine Of those whose conquering glances overthrow Cities and kingdoms, for his sake combine And win the ready smiles that ever flow From royal lips. What matter if the snow Blot out the garden? She shall still recline Upon the scented balustrade and glow With spring that thrills her warm blood into wine. The renowned flower, and she of a loveliness to overthrow Kingdoms—both give happiness. Each receives a smile from the Prince when he looks at them. The Spring wind alone can understand and explain the boundless jealousy of the flower, Leaning over the railing of the balcony at the North side of the aloe-wood pavilion. The lady fair admires and is admired by the flower, The sovereign would gaze upon them with a smile. She leans on balustrade north of the Fragrant Bower, The longing of Spring Wind she knows how to beguile. |
