英譯: Where blue hills cross the northern sky, Beyond the moat which girds the town, 'Twas there we stopped to say Goodbye! And one white sail alone dropped down. Your heart was full of wandering thought; $(For me,)$ —my sun had set indeed; To wave a last adieu we sought, Voiced for us by each whinnying steed!
LOOKING north of the city you see a line of blue hills, Sparkling water flows past the eastern gate. Here we part once for all; A solitary waterweed drifts off into the distance. When I think of the wandering clouds you will come back into my thoughts Sunset will bring with it memories of you. We part now with a wave of the hand; as we turn our horses they neigh farewell.
CLEAR green hills at a right angle to the North wall, White water winding to the East of the city. Here is the place where we must part. The lonely water-plants go ten thousand li; The floating clouds wander everywhither as does man. Day is departing—it and my friend. Our hands separate. Now he is going. “Hsiao, hsiao,” the horse neighs. He neighs again, “Hsiao, hsiao.”
With a blue line of mountains north of the wall, And east of the city a white curve of water, Here you must leave me and drift away Like a loosened water-plant hundreds of miles.... I shall think of you in a floating cloud; So in the sunset think of me. ... We wave our hands to say good-bye, And my horse is neighing again and again.

Athwart the northern gate the green hills swell. White water round the eastern city flows. When once we here have bade a long farewell, Your lone sail struggling up the current goes. Those floating clouds are like the wanderer's heart. Yon sinking sun recalls departed days. Your hand waves us adieu; and lo! you start, And dismally your horse retiring neighs.

Green mountains bar the northern sky; White water girds the eastern town. Here is the place to say foodbye, You'll drift out, lonely thistledown. Like floating cloud you'll float away; With parting day I'll part from you. We wave and you start on your way, Your horse still neighs: "Adieu! adieu!"
Blue mountains to the north of the walls, White river winding about them; Here we must make separation And go out through a thousand miles of dead grass. Mind like a floating wide cloud, Sunset like the parting of old acquaintances Who bow over their clasped hands at a distance. Our horses neigh to each other as we are departing.
Dark hills lie aslant the outer wall in the north; Clear waters run round the city wall to the east. Once you have left me here you’ll be blown along, Lonely tumbleweed going thousands of miles. Under drifting clouds I think of you on jour travels, As the sun goes down I cherish you as a friend. We wave our goodbyes, and then away you go, To the sound of our horses whinnying as they part.
