No one in the whole world knows me as you do.
I am reminded continually of your former kindnesses...
I am going back to my own little farm.
There I shall arrange flowers in my rock garden.
For a long time I have had no letter from the south.
How then can I send you this message?
Where are my thoughts after all? Far off in Chingchou－there my sad gaze turns In all the world I have had no other friend Whose kindness to remember all my life I mean soon to belong to the country, and sow And plant things, and grow old in my refuge I watch the wild geese southwards out of sight And think how I may send a word to you. |
