The moon has painted half the room at dead of night,
The slanting Plough and Southern Stars shed their dim light.
I can feel in the air the warm breath of new spring,
For through my window screen I hear the insects sing.
Deep in the night the moonbeams fall on half the people’s houses; North Dipper lies athwart the sky, South Dipper lies aslant. Tonight I have a special sense of the spring air being warm – The insects have started to make a noise through the green window gauze. |
