By a bronze mirror stands a blue-green simurgh,
She puts on rouge from Yen with a purple brocade.
Her blossoming cheeks are brushed with dusky powder,
Cold tears invade the corners of her eyes.
Once Emerald Jade had split the melon
Her lute of jade was played by another hand.
Today things aren't the same as in the past,
What man is there dare look her in the face.
