TOWARDS evening my soul was disquieted,
And I urged my carriage up to this ancient plateau.
The setting sun has boundiess beauty;
Only the yellow dusk is so near.
'Tis evening, and in restless vein At the old mount I slacken rein: The glorious day Fades fast away And naught but twilight glooms remain! At dusk my heart is filled with gloom, I drive my cab to ancient Tomb. The setting sun appears sublime, But oh! 'tis near its dying time. It’s evening and I am feeling out of sorts, So I drive my carriage up to the old plateau. The sun at dusk is immeasurably fine – Or it would be, but for the coming twilight. |

日ぐれ心楽しまず
車を馳せてこの古き丘に登る
夕陽は限りなく美しいが
もう黄昏が迫っている
晩（ばん）に向かって意適（いてき）せず 車を駆（か）って古原（こげん）に登る 夕陽（せきよう）限り無く好（よ）し 只（ただ）是（こ）れ黄昏（こうこん）近し 晩に向かって意適せず 車を駆って古原に登る 夕陽限り無く好し 只是れ黄昏近し 日暮れに近づこうとするこの時、私の心はなぜか楽しまない。 そこで馬車を駆ってこの楽遊原に登ってみた。 原上から眺めるこの落日は、限りなく美しい。 ただ、もうすぐ、たそがれの闇がすべてを閉ざすのだ。 晩（くれ）に向（なんな）んとして意（い）適（かな）わず 車（くるま）を駆（か）って古原（こげん）に登（のぼ）る 夕陽（せきよう） 無限（むげん）に好（よ）ろし 只（ただ）是（こ）れ黄昏（こうこん）近（ちか）し 晩に向んとして意適わず 車を駆って古原に登る 夕陽 無限に好ろし 只是れ黄昏近し |
