It is heartbreaking to realize the spring is about to end on the riverside!
I halt my stroll to lean on mys staff and view the exuberant beach: Mad
catkins of willow dancing with the breeze; Fickle blossoms of the peach
drifting with the stream.
When frechets cease in early spring and the river dwindles low, I take my staff and wander by the banks where wild flowers grow. $(I watch)$ the willow-catkins wildly whirled on every side; $(I watch)$ the falling peach-bloom lightly floating down the tide. I grieve to see that spring has nearly reached its end, With staff in hand, then slowly o'er the isle I'll roam. Before the breeze the willow-seed plumes wildly toss, And peach-flowers lightly glide along the river's foam. Spring's almost over along the river it breaks my heart to watch it I walk with my thorn stick drinking the fragrance of the shore willow catkins drift by on the wind silly little peach blossoms sail on the river's surface. |
