Raining, raining steadily along the River,
Luxuriant the grasses there.
Six Dynasties, as in a dream:
The empty call of birds.
$Today,$ indifferently, 00000 in their green haze
$Willows$ still embrace the ten-league banks $of Taicheng$.
It is raining on the river Everywhere. The long grass at the water's edge Bows low before The Hail of the cloud-swept sky. The great line of kings Has passed away. No more are they Than a ghostly dream, Or the cry of a bird In the night. Gray and unrecking, The city wall stands. It is not moved By the shadow-show, Nor are the trees That bow their heads And stretch out their arms To the rain On the long, long river dyke. |
